M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Soundcard Review
Author: Mike Pengelly
Date: May 5th, 2004

Price: $99

A Closer Look
The Revolution 7.1 soundcard is about the same size as any other PCI soundcard, as a matter of fact it’s about the same size as my old SBLive MP3+ soundcard. M-Audio has designed this soundcard around a blue PCB which gives the card an attractive look.

The sound card comes with a manual for installation and information, a cd with drivers, one with soundcard applications, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, and an enhanced audio cd created by M-Audio.

Here are various other angle shots of the video card for your viewing pleasure.

Here is a diagram of the backpanel of the card to show the inputs/outputs. The user has more than enough plugs for use here, however there is no optical input or output which is not a big deal but might be missed by those true audio enthusiasts.

M-Audio has an updated set of drivers that can be found on their homepage and with these updated drivers we proceeded to review the M-Audio package. M-Audio provides a nice interface with the drivers for tweaking and setting up the card. Everything from choosing speaker configuration to actually choosing which brand and model of speakers you are using. Here are a few screenshots of the application:
